Selling an MSP When You Are Still the After-Hours Number

Bypass Business Brokers · 6 min

Managed services look tidy in a pitch. In real firms the founder is often still the person who answers when a server dies on a Sunday.

That is not a character flaw. It is the thing a buyer must price.

Contracts before culture

An MSP buyer wants to know the term of the support agreements, the stack, and whether technicians will stay. Culture talk can wait. Assignment clauses cannot.

The after-hours truth

If you are the roster, say it in the first private discussion. Some buyers have a helpdesk that can absorb you. Others need you for 90 days and then want you gone. Both are workable if they are planned.

ICT and internet sitting beside the MSP

Plenty of IT companies also resell connectivity. That can be a plus. It can also be a distraction. The internet provider page exists so that file can be described separately if it should be.

Start with the MSP page if this is your shop.
